I've been using this battery for over two weeks. While it performs adequately, the actual capacity is lower than advertised. My testing with a Windows battery analysis tool shows a full charge capacity of around 36wh, not the advertised 41wh. Battery is genuine and working fine
It was only a little over 2 years, and suddenly my MBA (last one with intel, 2020) went blank and never turned on. After a series of exploratory episodes over next 2 days, I could eventually figure out that it was the battery that swelled up. As I hopped in a service centre (local one, not Apple authorised), they asked me ~13k for the battery swap and offered me 3 months of warranty; and the Apple authorised SC estimated a total cost of ~22k with a 6 months of warranty. Surprisingly, when I checked for an exchange over Amazon or Flipkart, I was offered ~15k for the entire laptop.
Thankfully, I came across Lap Gadgets website while searching for a replacement battery (as I decided to replace the battery on my own, only after having a few YT lessons). It was listed for ~6k, which was itself suspicious enough, that I may get scammed. But checked the reviews, and they appeared genuine, and I took the chance. While ordering, I also purchased an onsite warranty for Rs 250. Otherwise, there is 6 months of carry in warranty. They also offered a return (10 days as far as I can remember) if necessary.
To my utter surprise, they battery came in a nice secure cardboard box with screw drivers inside. Only thing missing was adhesives (that was taken care of with tapes later). My brother carried out the surgery successfully, and voila, the laptop was working again. It was giving me a usage time of roughly 6-8 hours, exactly like the original one. I tested with a complete discharge so that optimisation can take place. Till now (2 months since the replacement) it was working as good as a new one. No heating issue. Charging time is similar to the new one (I don’t have exact numbers in terms of minutes though). And no issues so far (touch wood). Battery health is showing capacity of 4743 mAh, condition as normal. Writing this review from the same laptop.
PS: One thing I learnt further, that many repairs can be done at home with proper replacement tools, even if one is not an engineer or technically expert for the task. Thanks Lap Gadgets for the excellent experience, and for further such issues, I shall come back to this site.
Suited really well. Battery capacity is impressive. Getting 6-8 hrs of backup. Charging time is quite long. Seems like a good buy.
